Our Member Selection Process
To ensure the quality and value of our Wisdom Network, we adhere to an acceptance process that not only looks at career achievement and reputation, but also community involvement and a demonstrated history of active participation in the success of others.
OpenWater strives to build not only the world’s leading wisdom resource, but also one that is strengthened by a diverse set of backgrounds, expertise, achievement, ethnicities, gender identification and more.
There are two main paths to OpenWater membership:
Option 1. Nomination
Potential OpenWater members must be nominated either by an existing OpenWater member in good standing or by one of our corporate partners. Nominees must fill out an application and have it reviewed by our membership committee.
Option 2. Application
Aspiring members can fill out an application. Once submitted we will follow up.
In looking at each application we consider:
- Experience – how long has this person been professionally active?
- Expertise – in what areas and disciplines is the applicant a leader in their field?
- Reputation – how is this person viewed both professionally and in their community?
- Engagement – how will this person give as much as they get with OpenWater?
- Story – how did this person get to where they are?
If a candidate makes it through the application review, they will then be interviewed by the OpenWater membership committee. These interviews give us the chance to meet each applicant and get a better sense of who they are and how they would fit within OpenWater.
Notification
Those selected for full membership into OpenWater will be notified of their acceptance. Dues payment must be made in full before membership is complete.
